The "value” of a WEDA membership is an investment that pays dividends and offers a great return. Many of you know this principle, but the statement has played an important role in recent weeks. Executive Director Kristen Fish and I have been visiting potential WEDA members as well as current and past members within the Metro-Milwaukee Area. Together, we have shared the recent successes of WEDA and presented the WEDA story to new leaders or professionals at various organizations. These meetings have been a great opportunity to build relationships.

In the last few weeks Patrick Schloss and I have had the opportunity to introduce WEDA to new potential members and sponsor organizations. We told the WEDA story. We talked about the high-quality training and conferences WEDA hosts, and the great networking opportunities our members value. We also shared the effective and powerful advocacy effort WEDA has built, discussing our recent legislative successes in a variety of areas. The people we met with were intrigued to learn about WEDA's Economic Development 101 for Local Leaders course.

May 2014 Legislative Update

On Tuesday April 1, the Senate banged the final gavel on the 2013-2014 legislative session. It was an extremely successful, bi-partisan session for our organization as three of the four WEDA legislative priorities have been signed into law.  Board Profile: Robert Duffy
Professional Involvement: Appointed to the WEDA Board in 2014 and a member for 13 years. I just completed my three-year term as the ICSC Public Sector Chair for Wisconsin, and I currently serve as a board member for the Wisconsin Downtown Action Council.

Education/Training: I am a graduate of the University Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in Geography/Urban Area Development. I obtained my Masters of Public Administration degree from UW-Oshkosh. I hold a Wisconsin Real Estate Sales license and have completed the necessary coursework to sit for the CEcD exam.
