From the President
Patrick Schloss

When you look at the world, the economy, a project or an opportunity, you must remember everything is about perspective.  For example, my brother runs marathons. At a race in Duluth, the buses quickly filled and he was directed to ride the 26.2 miles to the start of the race on the pro-athlete bus. He sat with a runner, who wore team Nike items and appeared like a pro runner.  They greeted each other and dove into the topic of running times. After inquiring about my brother’s goal for the run, the pro looked shocked when my brother replied, “4 to 4 ½ hours.” Startled by the pro’s reaction, my brother inquired about his goal. The pro replied “2 hours and 15 minutes or less.”  Both were amazed by the other’s goal.  The pro-runner looked at my brother and laughing said, “I could never see myself running for four hours!”

Walker Announces Agency Mergers in Annual Address

Earlier this month, Governor Scott Walker delivered his fifth State of the State address.  Running just twenty-four minutes long, one of his shortest State of the State addresses, the governor highlighted Wisconsin’s economic situation: an ever-improving unemployment rate; growth in private sector jobs; and budget reforms that saved taxpayers $2 billion. Although in comparison to prior years the 2015 address was a bit lean on specifics, more details are expected to surface during his February 3rd budget address.
