WEDA Membership

What does your WEDA membership mean to you? To me, it is comfort in the knowledge that I have a network of colleagues I can rely on for advice, expertise and friendship when we get together at conferences and other events.

I know to some it is the certification opportunities provided by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) or National Development Council (NDC) through agreements with WEDA. Each year we offer the IEDC Basic Economic Development course in Madison in September and have offered the complete set of NDC courses for the Economic Development Finance Professional designation. To others, it is the opportunity to network at the Governor’s Conference in Milwaukee or Madison, and at our Fall Conference which is held in a different community around the state in each year.

WEDA membership for others is the ability to take advantage of programs such as ED101 and our new Economic Development Acadamy, which is intended to take a deeper dive into particular topics at the community leader level.

Finally, it should be a source of professional pride in the economic development field that we are members of WEDA. I would encourage you all to reach out to a colleague, a village or city official, and/or other partners in your network to encourage them to check out WEDA. Membership is now on a rolling calendar renewal, so signing up now will give you a full, twelve-month membership. I challenge every member to bring in at least one new WEDA member by the end of 2017. Together we are stronger!!
