On November 18, fifty-three members of the association were represented and a quorum of the membership was confirmed. The recommended bylaw modifications were reviewed by WEDA leadership.
After questions from the floor were answered, a motion was made and seconded to approve the modifications. It was approved by unanimous vote of the membership. As part of the special meeting of members, Roger Nacker (proxy for the membership), suggested that WEDA should annually seek interest from members to serve on the WEDA board. The suggestion was implemented on November 20. As a result, the nomination committee had 12 individuals show interest in serving on the WEDA board. The future intent is that this will be implemented each year, prior to the Nomination Committee beginning its work. A list of potential candidates has been developed and will transfer from one Nomination Committee to the next.
The bylaw changes removed the requirement of the Nomination Committee to have at least two more candidates than the number of directors to be elected. It does retain the provision for the membership to submit a petition to add a name to the slate developed by the Nomination Committee.
