Legislature Plans Busy Fall Session
After spending summer away from the state house, legislators are back in Madison for the fall floor period. The Senate was back in session on September 17th, and the Assembly will back in October. Both houses have ambitious plans for passing legislation now that the state budget is no longer dominating the legislature's attention.
Gov. Walker has said he will roll out a package of bipartisan bills that are aimed at bolstering workforce development, offering tax breaks to businesses, and eliminating regulations. Legislative leaders from both houses and both parties have echoed the governor's call for a focus on bills that will help improve Wisconsin's economy and facilitate job creation.
WEDA is in a good position for the fall, with several of its proposals moving forward.

October is Manufacturing Month
Governor Scott Walker proclaimed October as Manufacturing Month to recognize the contributions of our manufacturing employers and workers and to highlight manufacturing as a valuable career pathway. During the month, manufacturers are encouraged to open their doors to parents, students, educators and members of the public to showcase the interesting, fulfilling and challenging careers available in manufacturing. Information is available for community leaders to promote October as Manufacturing Month.
Gather the information on manufacturers in your area who are interested in hosting a facility tour, and contact Susan Nyffenegger 608-258-3400, to have that event listed on the official Manufacturing Month website.
